What is CocoCroco?

Why not just open a new ChatGPT or Claude chat when I get a tangent?
A blank chat starts without the earlier discussion. A CocoCroco branch inherits history up to the branch point and stays visibly connected to the original, so you can explore both directions on the canvas of your board.
What exactly happens when I branch a conversation?
Select a message or passage and drag it onto the canvas. CocoCroco creates a linked child conversation with the parent history up to that point, while the original route stays untouched and ready to revisit.
Do I need my own AI provider keys?
Yes. CocoCroco is BYOK: connect your own API key from a supported provider and pay that provider for usage. The app price does not include AI credits, in Free or Pro.
Can I use my ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro subscription with CocoCroco?
Not directly. ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro cover the providers’ consumer apps, not API usage in CocoCroco, so you need a separate provider API key and separate usage billing. On desktop, supported local AI CLIs are another option.
Where is my data stored—and what leaves my device?
Saved boards, chats, keys, and settings stay locally in your browser or desktop app. CocoCroco does not receive or proxy your chat content: messages, relevant context, and attachments go directly to your chosen provider under its terms. There is no automatic cloud sync; clearing browser data removes the local copy. Use export/import for backups and transfers.
